RSM’s expertise in the alternative finance sector has been confirmed after the firm won two awards at the recent AltFi annual awards.
The firm was crowned 'Investment and Corporate Advice firm of the Year' and 'Consulting and Accounting Firm of the Year' in a ceremony held at the Fable in London.
Rupert Taylor from AltFi Data stated,
'It is vitally important that the growth of the alternative finance sector is supported by advisers who understand the dynamics of the business and are prepared to invest in it. These awards recognise RSM’s strengths in the sector, across a broad range of services to stakeholders.'
In the current year RSM has advised on a range of projects which reflect the breadth of services offered by the firm. Projects have included financial due diligence, fund raising, restructuring, regulatory compliance and providing traditional audit and tax services. Significantly RSM’s relationship with key stakeholders, notably funders and the regulators has ensured it has been able to provide key support to platforms as they seek the institutional funding to drive their growth. In addition, RSM has launched its ‘standby service’ focused on assisting platforms and institutions in the event of a business failure, a key condition of FCA regulation.
Damian Webb, a financial services partner at RSM stated,
‘These awards recognise the significant investment RSM has made in setting up a specialist team offering a full range of services to the alternative finance sector. The growth in the alternative finance market has been impressive and it is important for the UK economy that it continues to develop as a means of offering an alternative to mainstream lending. As a firm we are focused on providing a breadth of services to support the sector as it continues to mature.’
Members of RSM'S specialist alternative finance team include David Fenton, Damian Webb, Jon Wade and Wendy Cooper.
