ICAEW President and RSM partner Nick Parker has flown the flag for London as part of a trade delegation to China organised by the Lord Mayor of London.
Nick joined delegates from PWC, Deloitte, HSBC, JP Morgan and Linklaters among others on an eleven day visit to promote trade and investment. The itinerary included visits to Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
As part of his trip, Nick took the time to visit ICAEW members across the country and also paid a visit to RSM international network firm Ruihua, one of the largest accountancy firms in China.
Nick commented ‘A key objective of this visit was to reiterate the message that London will remain open for business after Brexit, and that the City will retain its position as an international financial centre that can support Chinese firms to realise their international ambitions.
‘One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to Shenzhen, once a small fishing port and now the country’s leading tech hub. There is no doubt that the City of London’s expertise in fintech and technologies such as blockchain will be invaluable in supporting the ambitions of the city’s businesses over the coming years.
‘It was also a great pleasure to visit RSM’s member firm in Beijing and meet the current and former managing partners. We expect there will be many opportunities for increased cooperation between our firms in the years ahead.’
