RSM further strengthens VAT and indirect tax team in Scotland

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM has appointed VAT and indirect tax specialist Ian Brown as a manager in Glasgow.

Ian joins RSM from Scott-Moncrieff and has a broad knowledge of all aspects of VAT including negotiating with HMRC; obtaining VAT refunds; and assisting clients to ensure that their VAT systems and procedures are robust. He is a Chartered Tax Adviser and has particular expertise in the not for profit, financial, food and drink, real estate, construction and energy sectors.

The move follows the appointment of Paul Russell last year who leads the VAT team in Glasgow working closely with Jim Burberry, RSM’s head of VAT and indirect tax in Scotland, to grow the Scottish practice.

Jim Burberry, RSM’s head of VAT and indirect tax in Scotland, said:

‘Ian is another great addition to the team. We have continued to invest in key talent to strengthen our capability and expertise, which ensures we are well place to advise a growing number of clients across Scotland.’

Ian Brown commenting on his appointment, said:

‘I am delighted to be joining the VAT practice at RSM. This is an exciting time as the firm has seen impressive levels of growth and I look forward to contributing and adding to what I believe is an impressive advisory offering in Scotland.’
