A tax adviser from Basingstoke has been nominated for a special award by his employer after completing a 300-mile bike ride for a local charity.
Josh Lewis, who works at RSM in Basingstoke, was shortlisted for the audit, tax and consulting firm’s responsible citizen award, after taking part in the Ark to Arc bike ride from Basingstoke to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris earlier this year.
His efforts helped the Ark to Arc team raise £82,000 for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity, which is currently trying to raise £5m for a new cancer treatment centre to be built by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in north Hampshire.
As a result of being nominated for RSM’s national award, Josh received a further £1,000 to donate to the charity of his choice. He has chosen to give £500 to the Ark Cancer Centre Charity and £500 to Bike4Cancer, a specialist cancer respite charity with a sporting focus.
Mike Blain, office managing partner at RSM in Basingstoke said:
‘Earlier this year, Josh helped to raise thousands of pounds for the Ark Cancer Centre Charity after pedalling all the way to Paris. This was a fantastic achievement and his nomination for this award is richly deserved.
‘RSM’s Basingstoke office has been a longstanding supporter of the Ark Cancer Centre Charity and we hope to continue supporting their important work in 2018.’
