A career in internal audit gives you front-row seats to how businesses operate. Companies today face a number of risks that can stop them from achieving their goals. We take a deep look at a business to decide whether it has the right systems and control processes in place to manage potential threats.
When you join RSM, you will gain professional qualifications. For internal audit this will either be the Associate of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA) or the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA) – the qualifications available to you will depend on your academic qualifications.
If anyone’s thinking of starting a career within risk assurance, which is the faculty we have here in RSM, the simplest way to describe it is that you get the opportunity to see a whole organisation from top to bottom, inside out, upside down.
You see all of their processes, and you see a range of different organisations. That gives you the opportunity, therefore, to see what sort of areas interest you and, indeed, what sort of businesses you might be interested in working with – either as an advisor or if you were to move on in the future.
